Excuse me while I use a big word.
Crepuscular.
That’s the word for animals that are active at twilight. Like rabbits.
When my oldest was little, she hated being confined in a stroller. So instead of saying we were going on an evening stroll, I would try to gin up interest by saying we were going on a rabbit hunt. And we’d head out into the dusk, looking for — and finding — the neighborhood rabbits.
Chinese New Year — the Year of the Rabbit — started on Sunday. Why not celebrate our crepuscular friends by going on an evening rabbit hunt? You’ll have to look closely in the waning light, though, because if they sense you coming, they’ll stay perfectly still.
Almost as still as statues.
