Pawprints on beach

I know exactly how Pawley’s Island got its name.

Oh, sure, local history says it is named for the Pawley family.

But I think it’s obvious that the island got its name from all the pawprints in the sand.

Pawprints made by happy dogs.

Very happy, wet and sandy dogs.

Take one look at all the dogs frolicking on the strand, and I think you’ll agree with me.

Sand, water, smelly fish …

It’s a dog’s paradise!

Pawley’s Island is obviously the perfect Spring Break destination for dogs.

Leash Law SignYou know what else is obvious?

These dogs can’t read.
