Many years ago, I was asked to create a poster for a beautification project in my hometown. My idea was to feature all the little ways that people could add welcoming touches to their homes — those little accents that add so much personality.
My hometown is also very Southern — and in the South, we are known for our drawl.
Do you see where I’m going with this?
My proposed slogan was “I love Columbia. Say it with an accent.”
Unfortunately, one of the beautification committee members went with her own vision, which was something like: “Plant a tree.”
But now, during the Year of the Dog challenge, I can recycle my idea! Just look at all the little details around my neighborhood, and you’ll see what we love best.
We love dogs! And we say it with an accent.
