\nFall is my favorite time to walk through the neighborhood \u2014 especially this glorious time between Halloween and Thanksgiving. <\/p>\n

When the frost is on the punkin and the fodder\u2019s in the shock,
\nAnd you hear the kyouck and gobble of the struttin\u2019 turkey-cock…\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

When James Whitcomb Riley wrote about \u201cfrost on the punkin,\u201d I know he was thinking of fat pumpkins lying in fields and barnyards. But in our neighborhood, pumpkins line front steps and porches instead.<\/p>\n

But the air\u2019s so appetizin\u2019; and the landscape through the haze
\nOf a crisp and sunny morning of the airly autumn days\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

These beautiful russet days dissolve into evening with fading sunshine, a slight chill and an occasional curl of woodsmoke.<\/p>\n

The husky, rusty russel of the tossels of the corn,
\nAnd the raspin\u2019 of the tangled leaves, as golden as the morn; <\/p><\/blockquote>\n

We don\u2019t have corn fields here in the neighborhood. But we do have hickory trees and maples that create swirling showers of scarlet and gold.<\/p>\n

O, it sets my hart a-clickin\u2019 like the tickin\u2019 of a clock,
\nWhen the frost is on the punkin and the fodder\u2019s in the shock! <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
